Thank you for your interest in Camp Couture™ - advanced study in fashion! All of my Camp Couture™ workshops are offered as national travel classes and at my private studios in Bucks County PA.

2012 calendar of CAMP COUTURE™ workshops

Saturday, March 10, 2012 11am-5pm “PERFECT MOULAGE” DRESSFORM
Class cost: $50

Working with clear plastic wrap, clear packing tape and markers, each student will have their body copied over in plastic and then marked by the instructor with the ideal placement for centers, princess seams, waist, hip & apex levels, etc. These plastic wrap forms are highly accurate and working with them you will achieve design results equal to working with the original cloth French moulage. Because the plastic version holds its 3 dimensional shape, it can be removed from your standard dress form and stored on a closet shelf when not in use. Wear or bring to class a snug fitting top & leggings. Also bring to class two rolls of plastic wrap and two rolls of clear packing tape.

Saturday, March 24 & 31, 2012 10am-6pm “CORSETRY” in 2 classes
2 Class cost: $100

For the advanced student who wishes to make true, functional custom corsets. Working from existing patterns designed by the instructor or from measurements of the student's own body, students will learn  all the steps required to design & construct real corsets. Instructor will give examples of varying techniques & provide samples of some for student's notebooks. This class requires "at home" preparation and time for fabric shopping before the 2nd class, so there is a break to accomplish this homework. Bring to 1st class notebook, scissors, pins, measuring tape, 4-5 yds of rigilene (sew thru boning), 2+ yds of muslin, pencils for marking and drafting tools for trueing in the patterns.

Sat, Apr 14, 21, 28 & May 5, 2012 10am-4pm “4-DAY FREE DRAPING”
Class cost: $200

For the serious draping student who wants to create innovative new forms with their draping. Working exclusively in muslin on the dressform, students will learn advanced theories in draping garments with less conventional shapes & silhouettes. The methods used in this class are not found in fashion design textbooks and require the student to set aside the conventional “rules” of draping and find new routes to creativity with cloth. Bring to class notebook, scissors, pins, 10+ yds of muslin, pencils for marking and drafting tools for trueing in the patterns you create.

Saturday May 26, 2012  10am-4pm “HAUTE COUTURE DIMENSIONAL APPLIQUE”
Class cost: $60  Kit Included.

Learn the steps to adding a third dimension to your surface embellishment work. Starting first with a sturdy ground fabric, you'll review the basic steps in fine decorative appliqué. Once the basics are understood, the work translates to the couture level with transparent appliqué on flexible ground fabrics such as silk organza and then to highly decorative appliqué with beaded & sequined textiles being applied as 3 dimensional shapes or flowers. Several of the techniques covered in class are regularly used on creations for the haute couture and some are secret techniques developed by Pamela herself. Bring to class notebook, scissors, hand sewing needles, threads of various colors. A kit with specialty silks, beaded fabrics and proper padding supplies for the lessons will be provided in class.

Saturday June 9, 2012 10am-4pm “HAUTE COUTURE LACE WORK”
Class cost: $60  Kit included.

Couture lace work uses a very special and rarely taught set of principals based on the specific behavior of lace textiles. In this workshop you will learn how lace behaves differently than either woven or common knit textiles. You will learn to select lace for it’s best attributes, how much you need to buy for a dress, how to greatly widen a narrow lace, several ways to support heavy lace so it does not droop, how to make invisible seams and darts so you never see the seams behind the lace, and more. We will also cover how to deal with lace that is beaded. Bring to class notebook, large cutting scissors and sharp, tiny snips, pins, thread in a good variety of colors & hand sewing needles. A kit with a variety of chantilly, guipure, over-embroidered & beaded lace fabrics will be provided in class.

Saturday, June 23 & June 30, 2012 9am-3pm “CORSETRY” in 2 classes
2 Class cost: $100

Working from existing patterns designed by the instructor or from measurements of the student's own body, students will learn  all the steps required to design & construct real corsets. July 14, 2012 10am-4pm “DRAPING IN MINIATURE” Forming New Theories
Class cost: $50

Many European fashion schools use draping in miniature as a way of testing out new ideas and envisioning a garment concept more quickly. The scaled down half-sized muslins serve as a “brainstorming” format for advanced theories. Working on the true half-size dressform with muslin, students will experience draping in half-size and discover the unique applications this provides. As students work out theories in miniature, they can translate them to full size on full sized dress forms in the classroom. Bring to class 5-10 yds of muslin, notebook, style tape for designing, pencils for marking & drafting tools for trueing in patterns.
